Welcome to the Department of Philosophy,
The department of philosophy, started in 1976, is the oldest university-department in the state of Kerala. The department has evolved over the years as one of the most important centers of research and teaching in the country offering advanced level courses in the frontier areas of philosophical research. The academic activities of the department have a unique disciplinary and interdisciplinary orientation designed to train the students in rigorous conceptual analysis and to critically engage with issues of social, cultural, and political life. Phenomenology, embodiment, subjectivity, cognition, and self and the other have been identified as the thrust areas of research and studies, and the courses have been redesigned with a clear focus.
