INTRODUCTION
The University of Calicut, with much appreciated student centric activities, has a latest and ever growing knowledge sharing mechanism for the scholarly world. The department of Philosophy,established in the year 1976, is the department with eminent alumni in Indian Philosophy and other streams of Philosophical studies have made their tribute to the society.
COLLECTION
With a state of the art technology, Koha, the department is automated to ensure the latest and advanced means of access to the students, never limited to the campus, for all the scholars worldwide. The department with a collection of around 6,000 odd printed resources in the core subjects is growing up with the requirements of the future scholarly world. The department has been a facilitator for distinguished 44 Ph.D works which were awarded by the University. Also the collection has 18 MPhil dissertations done by our students.
SERVICES
The department provides facilities to students to access the e-resources at their devices including mobiles. The facility is provided to registered users with remote access login facilities as of the norms of Cyber Security. Department library keeps synergy with the central library system through access to the discovery access tool, designed in Vufind where e-journals, theses, dissertations and e-books are available for reading and learning. This can be accessed via link https://find.uoc.ac.in/. The entire library system has an institutional repository which is designed in D Space.
MEMBERSHIP
The faculty members, scholars, students and staff are the members of the library. The members of other departmental libraries of the university are also permitted for reference with prior permission from the concerned HODs. The students are provided to lend printed books from the library on terms concerned.
Also, the department provides ambient space for the students to read, discuss and provide a unique thought of flow for the society of Philosophy of the future world.
